African Nations Cup squad deadline warning (10.01.2006)
The 16 qualifiers for the African Nations Cup in Egypt this month have been warned to name their 23-man squads by 10 January or face disciplinary action.
A statement on Saturday from the tournament organisers, the Cairo-based Confederation of African Football (CAF), said failure to meet the deadline will lead to a 3,000-dollar fine.
And any country not submitting a list of names seven days before the biennial showcase of African football begins on 20 January in Cairo will be allowed to register just 20 players.
CAF has demanded the first name,

And officials are notoriously late in providing squads with former Nations Cup winners South Africa fined for submitting their squad for the 2004 edition in Tunisia after the deadline.
Hosts Egypt will be joined by Angola, Cameroon, Cote d`Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe at the three-week event.
