Youth football gets 25.000 Euros from Japan (15.02.2005)
The mayor of the Japanese town of Nakatsue, Yasumu Sakamoto has handed over aid money donated by citizens of the province of Oita to Cameroon football federation.
The money, in travellers’ chaques, was handed over to FECAFOOT president Mohammed Iya during a brief ceremony at FECAFOOT headquarters in Yaounde on Monday.
The financial assistance is aimed at funding youth football. The packet was immediately passed onto FECAFOOT treasurer, Alioum Alhadji who will ensure that it is spent on the youth team bound for the International Montaigu tournament in France in the days ahead.
President Iya thanked the Japanese for their help in developing Cameroon football. “We recognise your efforts in helping Cameroon”, he added.

The money was contributed by citizens of Oita in Japan, during activities organised by the Meyomessala/Nakatsue Association - arising from the twin city agreement between the Cameroonian and Japanese towns.
Acoompying mayor Yasumu were the Japanese ambassador to Cameroon, Yonichi Kumeda and the adviser to the Meyomessala/Nakatsue association, Tachiro Nisi.
