Boxer Lee makes Games exit beaten by Cameroon boxer Hassan Ndam Njikam (22.08.2004)
Ireland middleweight Andy Lee bowed out of the Olympics when he was beaten on countback by Hassan Ndam Njikam.
The Cameroon boxer shaded the verdict after the fighters had finished on 27 points each.
The Limerick man, who beat Mexico`s Alfredo Angulo Lopez in the first round, was behind for most of the fight but pulled level in the last minute.
However, the 20-year-old, Ireland`s sole boxer at the Games, could not get ahead in the close contest.
Ireland`s Sam Lynch and Gearoid Towey finished fourth in the lightweight double sculls B final at the Schinias
Olympic rowing centre.
The Irish duo recorded a time of six minutes 49.26 seconds - behind the United States, who edged out Spain to take first place.
Gerald Owens and Ross Killian finished in 10th place in their final race in the 470 sailing class.
They finished in 16th place overall in the 27-boat fleet. In the Finn class, David Burrows was a disappointing 22nd in his final race and dropped two places in the overall standing from 10th to 12th.
Mark Mansfield and Killian Collins opened their Olympic campaign in the Star class with an 11th and 15th place.
