Michel stalls on Tunisia (29.10.2001)
Tunisia`s Football Association says French coach Henri Michel has not signed a deal to manage the national team and is leaving Tunis today.
But Michel is due to return to Tunisia next week for further talks about the vacant post.
FA spokesman Monzaf Chaouachi said Michel was flying back to Greece to have discussions with his club Aris Salonika, with whom he is reported to have fallen out.
The club has recently changed hands and Michel is said to be unhappy with the approach of the new owners.
The Greek Press Agency said he had quit the club, but Salonika say he was given four days leave and would be returning to honour his contract.
If the much-travelled Michel becomes of Tunisia coach he would take
over the reins from Germany`s Eckhard Krautzen, who was sacked two months ago.
Despite getting Tunisia to the Nations Cup and World Cup, the FA put the team`s success down to luck.
Solid record
Michel has coached France, Cameroon and Morocco at the World Cup finals, taking a French team to third place in 1986.
If he took the Tunisia job he would be charged with bringing success to a team which has failed to deliver in recent years.
Tunisia failed to impress at the 2000 Nations Cup and were disappointing at the last World Cup, where they finished bottom of their group.
Michel is the latest in a long line of high-profile coaches to be connected with the North Africans.
