5 Africans on Pele`s list (05.03.2004)
Five African players have been included on Pele`s list of Fifa`s 100 greatest living footballers. As expected, two of the biggest names in African football, Cameroon`s Roger Milla and Liberia`s George Weah, made it on to the list and they were joined by Ghana`s Abedi Pele and the Nigerian captain Jay-Jay Okocha.
The surprise inclusion on the list though is the two-time African Footballer of the Year, El Hadji Diouf from Senegal.
There are three African-born players on the list - Portugal`s Eusebio, who is originally from Mozambique and the French duo of Marcel Desailly and Patrick Vieira from Ghana and

Senegal respectively.
The country with the most names on the list is, perhaps unsurprisingly, Brazil with 15, including Pele himself.
Both Italy and France boast 14 players in the top 100, while Holland have 13.
The list also includes two American women footballers, Michelle Akers and Mia Hamm, who have been at the forefront of the development of the women`s game in recent years.
The list was announced at a ceremony in London on Thursday, and has been issued as part of the centenary celebrations for Fifa, which is 100 years old in May.
The list actually has 125 players on it.
