Arsenal defender Lauren could face an FA ban after seemingly elbowing Tottenham`s Erik Edman last night.
Edman went down under a challenge from the Cameroon international during the Gunners` 1-0 win at Highbury and gestured that Lauren had elbowed him in the face.
Video replays failed to categorically clear the Arsenal man of any wrongdoing and he could be the subject of an FA review as referee Mike Riley did not take any action on the night.
Lauren has categorically denied deliberately elbowing the Swedish player, but could be sidelined for the closing stages of the season if he receives a three-game
suspensionfor violent conduct.
"It was just a normal challenge," Lauren told the London Evening Standard.
"Both players went for the same ball and it was a fair challenge, the kind that happens in every game. It is nothing more than that. There was nothing sinister in it.
"We both went for the same ball and we tried to push each other. It was accidental. There was nothing intentional from me."
Arsenal`s win last night ensured that Chelsea will have to wait a while longer before being officially confirmed as Premiership champions, although a win at Bolton at the weekend will see the trophy head to west London for the first time in 50 years.
