Eto’o Plays for Cameroon (19.03.2007)
According to a contract signed with Ford last Friday, the Eto’o Fils Foundation will receive a car for every two goals scored.
Other than helping his club side, FC Barcelona to conserve the league title for the third consecutive time and win the Copa del Rey, Samuel Eto’o Fils will this season be playing for the interest of Cameroonian youths. The Cameroonian striker last Friday March 16, signed a contract with Ford, a car manufacturing company to receive assistance from the company in exchange for goals scored. According to a contract signed with the automobile company, Ford, the Eto’o Fils Foundation will receive a car for every two goals scored this season. In addition, the Eto’o Foundation will receive one euro from every vehicle that visits the Ford garage in Catalan. A bank account and phone number have been made public for those who may want to donate directly to the Eto’o Foundation.
It is worthy to mention that the same company had signed a similar contract with the Cameroonian born striker six months ago, but the contract

flopped owing to the knee injury he sustained during a European Champions’ League match against Werder of Bremen. Speaking during the signing ceremony, Eto’o thanked the Ford Company for their collaboration saying for now, I have half of a vehicle and if I should score against Recreativo, we shall have a vehicle". However, the next day, Eto’o did not score only one goal but two and according to the agreement, he should be having one vehicle and a half already. That notwithstanding, the triple African player of the year said though he wishes to help Cameroonian children, his principle objective will be the success of his team, FC Barcelona. "If I have a team mate next to me and decide to kick and miss the ball, heaven will fall on our heads", he said.
Eto’o used the opportunity to thank the medical team that helped him recover and said the injury had enabled him to distinguish his real friends from false ones. Eto’o scored two gaols in their 4-0 win over Recreativo last Saturday March 17, to enable Barcelona maintain her lead on the Spanish league.
