ETO`O BARCA CONTRIBUTION PRAISED (06.02.2005)
sportinglife.com
Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho claims the summer signing of Samuel Eto`o has added an extra attacking dimension to the Catalan side as they prepare for the visit of Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
The Brazil schemer feels Cameroon international Eto`o, the Primera Liga`s leading scorer with 16 goals, has played a starring role in taking Barca to the top of the league and into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
However, Ronaldinho is starting to run into some scoring form himself.
Having registered just three league goals in the first half of the season - all from the penalty spot - he finally delivered in open play with a strike from the edge of the area against Racing Santander a fortnight ago.
The former Gremio and Paris St Germain man was back on the scoresheet last weekend as Barca beat Sevilla 4-0.
But Ronaldinho prefers to lavish praise on his strike partner Eto`o ahead of the home clash with Atletico.
"He is without doubt the most dangerous attacking player in the league and makes the difference against other sides," he said.
"Eto`o`s incorporation this season has been key for us being where we are. He is helping us all a lot and I am very happy to have him by my side.
"The game against Atletico is going to be a classic. They are a great team and if we are not careful then they can give us a surprise."
Ronaldinho insists he is fit enough to take his place in the side after suffering a facial injury against Sevilla.
"I had a knock on the jaw from the last game but now I am 100% and I am only thinking of playing a great game and getting another victory."

injury-plagued start to the season, when coach Frank Rijkaard was scouring the youth ranks for players, first-team members are starting to return and the Dutchman will now have to cope with the task of keeping all his players happy.
Of the two winter reinforcements, Maxi Lopez is set for a place on the bench and will have to wait for his chance to impress, although Demetrio Albertini could start after coming on to good effect at half-time against Sevilla.
If Albertini plays, Rafael Marquez would revert to centre-half and Oleguer Presas would be relegated to the substitutes` bench - something the Catalan, who has been a regular under Rijkaard all season, is unlikely to be happy about.
"Nobody in the team would be content on the bench," said Oleguer. "But I think that it would be an error to feel that you will always start as that way you relax and you cannot afford to do that here because there are a lot of great players.
Rijkaard will also have to choose between Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Silvinho for the left-back berth, with the Dutchman having started on the bench last Saturday.
Meanwhile, Atletico coach Cesar Ferrando reckons a good performance at the Nou Camp would do a lot to improve the confidence and belief at the club.
"It is a game which can boost the players, the coach, the fans and everybody," he said.
"A positive result would give us a big lift and I think we are capable of this because recently we have been playing good football even though the results have not followed."
Ferrando will be without Peter Luccin, who is suspended, and he is likely to play Gonzalo Colsa and Marcelo Sosa in the centre of midfield.
