Mbia happy to have snubbed Toffees (08.01.2009)
In-demand Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia claims to have spurned the chance to join Everton during the current transfer window.
The Cameroon international claims there are several clubs chasing his signature during January, with the Toffees just one of his many admirers.
The 22-year-old insists some of Europe`s top teams are prepared to battle it out for his signature, but maintains that he is in no rush to make a decision regarding his future.
"There are many big clubs after me now, so I am glad that I did not sign for Everton," Mbia told Sky Sports.
"I decided to stay here for the moment as my friends, such as Rigobert Song and Samuel Eto`o, told me not to be in a hurry.
"The Everton offer was the best on the table, and I almost signed

for them, but I am fine here for now."
The African ace also admitted that he would favour a switch to Serie A over a move to the Premier League.
"I prefer the Italian league, but I do not want to join a team that is fighting for fourth place," he said.
"I am ambitious. There is a big Italian club who want me, but I will not reveal their name to the media just yet."
Asked whether England would ever be an option to him Mbia admitted only the biggest teams in the country could tempt him.
"If (Manchester) United or Arsenal come in for you, you have to listen," he added.
"The same as if Real Madrid or Barcelona came in for you.
"You never know, but I do not regret not signing for Everton. I am happy at Rennes at the moment."
