Tunisia set to announce new coach
Tunisians might know the identity of their new coach as early as Wednesday when the special commission mandated with finding a new trainer sits in Tunis.
But it is by no means certain that the commission has already made a decision or will be ready to make any announcement.
The meeting comes a week after Tunisia`s 1-1 draw with France in a friendly international at the new stadium at Rades, situated just outside the Tunisian capital.
Tunisia have already used three coaches this year and have made no secret of the fact they are looking for another high profile personality to take charge of the team in the build-up to their hosting of the new African Nations Cup finals.
Frenchman Henri Michel left in March after a dismal Nations Cup tournament in Mali, replaced by Ammar Souayah and Khemais Laabidi, who took the north Africans to the World Cup finals in Japan.
But Souayah`s ill health caused him to quit after the tournament and a commission named by the Tunisian Football Federation was tasked with the search for a new coach.
Veteran trainer Youssef Zouaoui, who twice before has been in charge of Tunisia, held the reigns for the match against the French but it was made clear that the appointment was on a caretaker basis only.
Frenchman Philippe Troussier, who has been courted by three Maghreb countries, is among the frontrunners for the position but his demands are said to be too excessive.
Other`s mentioned by the Tunisian media in recent days include the former Yugoslav international Vahid Halihodzic, who until recently was coach of Lille in the French first division, and former Swiss national coach Gilbert Gress.
