Schafer joy at Lions` display
Cameroon`s German coach Winfried Schafer was upbeat following his team`s excellent performance against England yesterday.
The Indomitable Lions drew 2-2 with England who scored the equaliser in the last seconds of injury time through Leeds United striker Robbie Fowler.
But despite a lack of concentration in the defence in the closing minutes of the game, Schafer was pleased with his charges.
"It was a fine game and I am satisfied with our performance," he said. "I am sure we can make a real impact in this World Cup."
Striker Patrick Mboma shrugged off injury worries to test the England defence and his combination with young Samuel Eto`o gave the coach something to be pleased about.
"They stick together and showed they have hearts," he said. "I am very happy with them."
Under the German The Lions have lost only once - to Denmark - in 11 high profile games in both the African Nations Cup and run up to the World Cup.
His compatriot Franz Beckenbauer predicts The Lions will qualify behind Germany in group E, saying: "I believe Germany will top the group with Cameroon coming second. They are a very strong side."Hits: 1 | Source:Teamtalk
