Canon Yaounde who have a record 11 cup wins are heading for the 12th. They have pushed out cup holders Mount Cameroon FC Buea to pick one of the semi finals tickets this season.
After a first leg goalless draw, Canon surprised fans of Mount Cameroon in Buea on Sunday with a 3-2 win.
Other semi finalists are Coton Sport Garoua, Sable Batie and Tonnerre Yaounde. Coton Sport are heading for their second final after obtaining the best result at the quarter finals. The giants from the north overwhelmed Fovu Baham 4-0 on aggregate. It was 2-0 in each leg.
Tonnerre were second best at the quarter finals following their 3-0 aggregate defeat of Renaissance Ngoumou. Tonnerre polished their 2-0 first leg win with a 1-0 win on Sunday in their new found ground in Ebolowa.
The last team to go through were last year´s finalists, Sable Batie. Thanks to the away goal rule, Sable dropped Caiman Douala. On Sunday the score was 0-0 in Bafoussam, after a one all draw in Douala.
The semis finals which have been scheduled for next month in Douala and Garoua will feature Canon against Sable and Coton Sport against Tonnerre. Judging from their league form, observers are looking forward to a final between Canon and Coton Sport, both teams on top of the league table. If that happens it will be a repeat of the 1999 final in which Canon beat Coton Sport 2-1.
