Poulsen to coach Zambia
Danish coach Roald Poulson has taken charge of the Zambia national soccer team on a three-month contract.
Zambia`s FA president Evaristo Kasunga made the announcement in Lusaka on Wednesday.
"I can confirm that Poulsen has taken over now on a three month contract and he has started training the team", said Kasunga.
"The contract is strictly for three months and not beyond".
It ends months of speculation over who would lead Zambia to the Nations Cup.
Former coach Jan Brouwer was suspended by Caf after an alleged assault on a match official.
He is now working in Zambia`s Sports Ministry.
Kasunga said Poulsen was being given a free rein.
Second spell
"When a coach is appointed it is his prerogative to make changes, and if feels he wants other people he is free to do it", he said.
In Brouwer`s absence the team has been managed by assistant coaches Fighton Simukonda and Peter Kaumba.
It is not the first time that Poulsen is coaching Zambia.
He led the country to third position at the 1996 Africa Cup finals and was instrumental in re-building the national side after the 1993 plane crash that claimed most of the Zambian squad.
