Foe double sinks Sunderland
Man City 3-0 Sunderland
Manchester City sank doomed Sunderland with a double strike late in the first half at Maine Road.
City scored twice in two minutes through Marc-Vivien Foe and Robbie Fowler as the Black Cats` season draws to a miserable close.
And Foe added his second with ten minutes left to make it a maximum return from the Easter period for Kevin Keegan`s side.
Foe enlivended a drab first half by firing home Nicolas Anelka`s lay-off nine minutes before the break.
Then Robbie Fowler shoved his way into space on the edge of the area and delivered a first-time finish from Ali Benarbia`s astute pass, lobbing advancing Black Cats keeper Mart Poom.
It left Sunderland playing for little other than respectability, with Mick McCarthy`s side ravaged by injuries and demoralised by their drop out of the Premiership.
Foe rounded off the victory with a right-foot finish after good work by Djamel Belmadi (Man City) from left wing.
