German Goverment donates medical equipment to indomitable lions
Over two months after the German coach Winfried Schäfer’s installation as the head coach of the indomitable lions, a consignment of medical equipment has been handed to the team by the German government.
The donation which includes psychotherapic instruments, bandages, crutches, massaging balms etc were handed to Minister Bidoung Mkpatt on November 20, at the conference hall of the Ministry. While receiving the gift, the sports minister expressed satisfaction saying that “it is a symbol of the true cooperation that reigns between the two countries”. According to him, the medical equipment will fortify the lions clinic and enhance their preparations for the forth coming African Nations cup in Mali and the World Cup in Korea and Japan in 2002. The Herald gathered that prior to The German gesture, the medical service of the lions was virtually empty and the personnel had little or nothing to work with. While handing the gift, the representative of the German ambassador to Cameroon said the gifts were from the German government. He said German football in Europe was like Cameroon football in Africa. He praised the authorities of the ministry of youth and sports for “Proper management”. The Germano-Cameroon relationship and cooperation, The Herald gathered has also manifested itself in areas like communication and health. Each year, the German government assists sports in Cameroon by offering five to ten scholarships for the training of coaches.
