Cameroon set to face Venezuela
Venezuela will meet Cameroon and Denmark early next year as both nations prepare for their trip to the World Cup finals in Korea and Japan.
After an impressive late performance in the South American qualifiers, the Venezuelans have been considered by top countries to hold pre-World Cup matches with.
The match between Cameroon and Venezuela will take place on January 13, although the Venezuelan Football Federation (VFF) have not set the venue where the friendly game will take place.
Venezuela will also host Denmark one month later, as the European side will tour around the Americas to prepare their squad for Korea/Japan 2002.
Cameroon will debut against Ireland next June 1 in Niigata, Japan, while Denmark will meet Uruguay during their opening match the Korean city of Ulsan.
Denmark, the 1992 European champs, will also meet with Senegal and World Champs France in Group A action.
As for Cameroon, the Indomitable Lions will play in Group E and will face off with two-time world champs Germany and Saudi Arabia.
It is the first time that Venezuela have been considered by important football nations to face off for preparation matches. Venezuela are known for their weak football style, though, the Vinotinto demonstrated their rising strength by pocketing four convincing wins in the South American qualifiers.
After defeating Uruguay, Chile, Peru, and Paraguay, other countries have concluded that facing the Venezuelans would give them a competitive South American match for their training purposes.
