Cameroon seek new arrangements
Cameroon`s Indomitable Lions have decided to take their roar elsewhere by switching hotels in Bamako ahead of their clash with Mali.
After arriving in Mali`s capital ahead of their African Nations Cup semi-final clash against the hosts, they were shown to their hotel - the best in the land.
German coach Winfried Schaefer and his technical committee decided though that the hotel would not do as it was too busy for their liking. They said it resembled a tourist venue. Instead they asked to be accommodated elsewhere and were taken to the official players village, which lacks the comfort of the hotel, but is more private.
Not surprisingly, some of the players seemed less than happy with the change, but Schaefer at least has his way, as security officials are preventing anybody but the team to enter.
That was not the only hiccup the organising committee faced. After complaints that the wording on the official trophy is only in French, it was hastily sent back to the manufacturers in Europe to have some English included. It seems unlikely that it will be ready in time for Sunday`s final and a replica will probably be handed over.
Another problem facing players at this tournament is the availability of flights leaving the country. Some teams have had to remain behind several days after being knocked out of the competition, while others are flying out at 3am in the morning.
