Tunisia prepare for World Cup without Michel
Henri Michel has resigned as coach of World Cup qualifiers Tunisia, citing intolerable working conditions for his decision. The Tunisian FA sacked Michel`s assistant Albert Rust earlier last week, without giving an explanation for their decision.
The president of the Tunsian FA Aboulhassen Fekih has announced a news conference for Tuesday, where the details of Michel`s departure should be revealed.
Pressure had been mounting on Michel after a dismal showing at the African Nations Cup, where the North African team were eliminated in the first round without scoring a goal.
Ammar Souayah and Kemaies Labidi, who were appointed in Rust`s place, have been temporarily put in charge of team affairs.
Their first job will be to prepare for Wednesday`s friendly with Norway in Tunis.
Tunisia, whose alarming form will need drastic improvement if they are to make an impact in Japan, are in Group H with co-hosts Japan, Belgium and Russia.
