Nigeria finally name squad
Nigeria have at last announced their African Nations Cup squad to end the threat of playing the competition without two players.
The Super Eagles, who were runners up last time around, will be fined $3,000 dollars for sending their final squad of 22 late to the Confederation of African Football.
But they will at least be able to take a full compliment of players.
Coach Shuaibu Amodu waited until after the 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast in Bouake yesterday before naming his team.
All the big Nigerian names will be present in Mali and their no surprise invitations either.
Ony Eric Ejiofor of Enyimba is home-based - the rest of the side play outside Nigeria.
The problematic tussle over Nwankwo Kanu and Celestine Babayaro both playing in England may not have been entirely resolved but Amodu has listed them for the campaign.
Amodu also seems to be confident now over the form of goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu, who has also been included.
The squad is made up of 15 members who played in the last Nations Cup.
