Eto`o - I will remain in Barcelona
Barcelona striker Samuel Eto`o has distanced himself from rumours linking him with a move to the Premiership claiming that he has no plans to leave the Spanish champions.
The Cameroon international criticised team selection in the final matches of the season, saying that coach Frank Rijkaard did nothing to help him in his bid to be the top scorer in the Primera Liga. Chelsea and Manchester United were thought to be interested in making a raid for him.
"I can assure you that next season I will be at Barcelona, I can guarantee it because I am happy," Eto`o told Spanish radio.
He also admitted that he was not going to let it worry him that he was not handed the Pichichi - the trophy awarded to the top scorer from each season - after Villarreal`s Diego Forlan just beat him to it.
"The fact that I am not the Pichichi is not going to bother me, at times what is important is to participate, not only to win.
"There is nothing to complain about because I have participated brilliantly and the person that has won the trophy, the Uruguayan Diego Forlan, has deserved it.
"To win the Pichichi has a lot of merit but I realise what work I have done and the people have enjoyed it so I know that I must continue this way.
"However, I am not satisfied with this and I will try and go out and do more. Here in Cameroon, it is almost as though I am the Pichichi and for them it is sufficient that I have won the league and contributed brilliantly to it."
