Eto`o looks for more success
Barca`s Cameroon striker has been speaking about the first few days of his pre-season, following his return to the squad this week and reckons: "we have to aim to win everything".
Ambition
Echoing his comments earlier on in the week to fcbarcelona.com, Eto`o insisted: "if you are at a club like this, you have to aim to win everything. You have to work hard and keep a sense of humility - if we think we`re better than last year because of what we did then we`ll have problems. You have to take each game as it comes giving all you can to each game, though we all of course want to win titles".
New signings
Eto`o touched on Barca`s summer signings, commenting: "we all know Gudjohnsen as a player and what we need to do is to help him adapt as quickly as possible. Thuram is a very smart guy and he`s very focussed on his job. He`s a serious person and will bring us all his experience. The season`s going to be a long one and we`ll need all of us to be out here fighting".
Comparing last year`s squad to this, Eto`o reckons: "the players who`ve come in have a lot of quality and that will improve the quality of the whole squad. For me we won the two titles last year because we knew how to defend, but not even the world`s best defender -that`s Puyol I`m talking about -can stop attackers on his own. It`s important that the whole team has to work together".
Giovanni Dos Santos
Eto`os had the chance to work with the youngsters who`ve joined the squad for the training camp in Aarhus and is clearly impressed with 17-year old Giovanni Dos Santos: "he`s a good player -as I said it`s a long season and we`re going to need everyone, including the reserve team players. Giovanni is one of the best and we`ll have to see what he brings the squad - I know he`ll be there if we need him".
Elections
The Cameroonian kept his distance from any polemic surrounding the upcoming elections, though he insisted: "we`re like a family here and I hope the same people stay in charge, but what we need is stability to help us through a tough looking season. These things are a bit of a distraction, but the members have to decide what`s best . The only candidate I know personally is Joan Laporta, who`s the guy that`s built this team up. We`ve given the fans a lot to cheer about and we`ve had a good time, which is important, so I hope things stay the same and we all stay in this together".
