Brazil star Ronaldinho wants Samuel Eto`o to join him at Barcelona and believes the Cameroon international could prove an important acquisition for the Catalan giants.
Eto`o`s long-running transfer saga is set to come to a conclusion this week, with the deadline on Tuesday for Real Madrid to decide whether to buy the player ahead of Barca.
Madrid president Florentino Perez does not want Eto`o to go to Barca and the club own half of the player`s rights along with Real Mallorca.
If Perez is prepared to pay half the £14million which Barca have offered, then Eto`o would go to the Bernabeu.
"A footballer must play where he wants and Eto`o wants to play for Barcelona as he has said on numerous occasions," Ronaldinho told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.
"I would be very happy if this happened and everyone here would do their best to help him feel at home.
"He is a player of a high level and quality and so would be welcome. Barca is a team totally different from last season.
"Players with quality have come in and can be very important for us in changing the face of the team.
"We are prepared to cope with the pressure on our shoulders this season. We will all fight until the end."
Meanwhile, the destination of Eto`o will also have an important say in whether Argentine striker Javier Saviola stays at the Nou Camp.
Saviola is currently with his national side preparing for the Olympics against the wishes of Barca. Monaco are waiting in the wings in the event of Eto`o going to Barca, which would open up the way for Saviola`s departure.
