Tchoutang savages former club Roda
Dutch side Roda JC Kerkrade have been strongly criticised by former Cameroonian international Bernard Tchoutang, who left the club in the summer.
Tchoutang suffered an unhappy last season with Roda, after being dropped to the reserves after the management made it clear they no longer required his services.
He finally secured a deal with Ukrainian side Metalurg Donetsk last month, but remains bitter at the way he was treated in Holland.
"They must realise that we are not living in Afghanistan," Tchoutang said.
"This is the Netherlands, where people have rights," he added.
Excuses
In an interview with the Dutch press, Tchoutang also attacked the way that the club had dropped him to the reserves, claiming the management did not tell him and made up excuses for their behaviour.
He said he only heard the news he and Nigerian international Garba Lawal had been dropped from a friend.
"He called me up to tell me. I heard nothing from the club at all but it was no surprise because they treated me and Garba very badly the whole year," Tchoutang said.
"They also said they wanted to get rid of us because we were always away on national duty.
"But the truth is we hardly ever played," he pointed out.
Absence
Tchoutang`s version of events is somewhat different to that of Roda`s, however.
At the time he was dropped, the club released a statement saying he had stayed away for a month without telling them where he was.
"I have no objection to him staying away for a long time - if it is necessary, then it is necessary," coach Sef Vergossen said at the time.
"But not to let us know anything for four weeks is unprofessional."
