MINSEP Encourages Lions
Offers CFA 15 million to the team and its officials.
Tradition was once more respected last Monday night when the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Philippe Mbarga Mboa, came visiting the Lions at their camping site in Lisses, France. It was an occasion for the administrative, medical and technical staff of the Indomitable Lions to brief the boss on the state of the players and how Cameroon is preparing for the match against Côte d’Ivoire.
The captain of the National football team reassured the Minister that all is going on fine. "We have two training sessions each day and we are highly motivated for the match", he said. With regards to health, Dr Atchou told the Minister that there is nothing much to worry about. "All is fine. There is only one player who cannot take an active part in the training because of an injury he sustained in his club", he said. Armand Deumi has a tear on the left adductor longus muscle.
The Coach, Artur Jorge, however deplored the rowdy atmosphere at the camping site. The situation is caused by the presence of several delegations in the hotel and lack of any form of control on the access into the place. "Our wish is to be in a calmer place, where we can work in complete serenity", the Portuguese technician said. The Minister immediately granted the wish. The next training camp of the Lions will therefore not be in Lisses.
The meeting was also an occasion to welcome new players into the squad. Goalkeepers, Daniel Bekono and Ebede Owono Pierre and attacker, Vincent Perricard, took turns to introduce themselves. "You are Cameroonians and have a right to be here. If you have been selected to join the national football team, it is because you merit it", Minister Philippe Mbarga Mboa reassured them.
The Minister recommended discipline and hard work for the team. "Cameroonians pay a lot of attention to all that you are doing. We are taking one step at a time and you all know that it is important that we win all our matches. We have already won three matches. There are two left", he said. The Minister reminded the players that it is a privilege to defend the national colours. "Your victory would contribute in uniting Cameroon" he concluded. As a sign of encouragement to the team, Minister Mbarga Mboa offered CFA 15 million francs to the playerS and the administrative and technical staff in view of today’s friendly match.
