Douala battle!

Middlesbrough face a battle to land top target Rodolph Douala . . . after Sporting Lisbon set his price at £6 million and the Cameroon star told the Portuguese giants that he wants a new contract.
But the Teessiders have not given up hope of bagging the versatile winger - as his agent insisted last night that a deal might yet be done.
Boro had a £4.2 million bid rejected by Sporting last week, and chief executive Keith Lamb is understood to have been in Lisbon over the weekend to negotiate a fee closer to the selling club`s £6 million valuation.
Though he is keen on playing in the Premiership, Douala - who has also attracted interest from Spurs, Fulham, Manchester City and Birmingham - is understood to have been unmoved by Sporting`s decision to reject Boro`s initial bid . . .
And followed it up by asking his employers to improve and extend his existing two-year contract.
However, his agent Jorge Gama said: "We do not have confidence in a quick solution for his exit. The money demanded by Sporting is very big for Middlesbrough, but still the subject is not eliminated."
Any developments are unlikely before the end of the week though as Sporting supremo Rui Meireles said his side are focused entirely on Wednesday`s Champions League qualifier against Udinese
"If Middlesbrough are interested they have to present a proposal good enough for Sporting and the player," Meireles said. "The price is not the only problem, the player`s terms are also part of the question.
"We count on Douala, he is one of us. At this moment the only subject on our agenda in the Champions League qualifier against Udinese."
Should Douala feature in that game, he will be cup-tied from the UEFA Cup if he joins Boro, who are also understood to have made enquiries about the 27-year-old`s team-mate Fabio Rochemback.
Any deal for the Brazilian midfielder would not be straightforward however, as Rochemback is still registered with Barcelona and has never been an international regular, making application for a work permit tricky.
He is not the only Brazilian being linked with a move to the Riverside, as reports in Italy claim Reggina president Lillo Foti is inviting offers for midfielder Mozart, who is the subject of enquiries from Palermo and Fiorentina.
Meanwhile, Szilard Nemeth is understood to be still weighing up a loan move to Sparta Prague after a similar switch to Banik Ostrava fell through.
