Kome joins Getafe
Cameroon midfielder Daniel Ngom Kome has realised his dream of Spanish first division football by signing a one-year loan agreement with Getafe.
Getafe, from Madrid`s southern industrial suburbs, are making their debut in the first division.
Kome was a key member of the Numancia squad that also gained promotion from the Spanish second division last season but they sold him to Real Mallorca on Monday.
Mallorca subsequently loaned him to Getafe as they had too many non-European Union players on their books.
"I understand why Mallorca had to loan me, but the important thing is for me to play first division football.
"If everything goes well then I`d like to make my move to Getafe permanent," said Kome.
"I am just recovering from a small injury at the moment but in another two weeks I should be fit and ready to play in some pre-season matches."
The move to Getafe should also enhance Kome`s international career prospects.
He was a member of Cameroon`s Olympic gold medal squad four years ago, coming on as a substitute in the dramatic final against Spain, which they won on penalties.
Kome was also in the Indomitable Lions squad that won the 2002 African Cup of Nations in Mali.
