Atouba sent home by Hamburg
Hamburg have sent defender Thimothee Atouba home early from their training camp in Dubai after he publicly criticised the club.
The 24-year-old Cameroon international complained that he had been forced to attend the training camp rather than stay in Hamburg to receive treatment
“I have tried to convince those responsible for the club, but they insisted I fly out too. I`m very disappointed about it,” he said.
Sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer confirmed the club had decided to send the player home, adding: “He has been a disruptive factor in recent days and we can`t afford that.”
The episode comes just over a month after Atouba received a two-game suspension and hefty fine for making obscene gestures at the club`s fans during a Champions League game against CSKA Moscow.
