Ramzy banned by Kaiserslautern over assault sentence (01.03.2002)
BERLIN
Egyptian defender Hany Ramzy has been banned indefinitely by German Bundesliga club Kaiserslautern after it was discovered he had received a suspended jail sentence for assault.
``With immediate effect Ramzy will no longer play for Kaiserslautern,`` the club said a statement on Thursday.
Kaiserslautern said
they had reached the decision despite their high regard for Ramzy`s sporting ability and his importance to the team.
The club gave no further details about the assault.
German justice authorities said Ramzy, 32, was handed a suspended eight-month jail sentence earlier this month after being found guilty of assault.
