Kameni turns down Spurs because he wants to play in Africa Cup of Nations (10.07.2008)
Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni has turned down a £4.5m move to Tottenham because manager Juande Ramos asked him to give up playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Kameni, 24, was set to complete a move from Espanyol until he discovered Ramos wanted a clause written into his contract saying he would not be released for the mid-season tournament
every other January.
The goalkeeper is now set to return to Spain for pre-season training at the end of the month, when he will discuss his future and the possibility of a contract extension.
