Spanish first division club Mallorca have asked Fifa to take action against Cameroon`s FA for the late return to duty of Samuel Eto`o Fils.
Mallorca told Fifa that Eto`o was due back on Tuesday, ahead of the weekends visit to Zaragoza for a league fixture.
But Eto`o is now not expected any earlier than Friday.
Club spokesman Toni Traveria said: "Our president has asked Fifa to act firmly against the Cameroonian federation. Eto`o was given no permission to extend his stay."
Eto`o told the club that his passport had been withheld by the Cameroonian authorities to oblige him to attend a celebratory dinner with the country`s president Paul Biya.

But Biya was on a European visit and never arrived to honour the team, despite that fact that many players had waited on for several days.
Eto`o missed seven of Mallorca`s league games because of the Nations Cup.
Eto`o is not the only player who has failed to return.
Real Madrid are waiting for Geremi Njitap who made contact with the club on Thursday but is yet to arrive back in Spain.
The third Spanish-based Cameroonian, Raymond Kalla, was expected back at second division Extremadura on Friday.
Eto`o and Njitap could be punished by Fifa by having their next spell on duty with Cameroon reduced.
