South West FECAFOOT elects new president (29.08.2001)
Lt. Colonel Luis Pangob, has been elected President of the South West Bureau of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
Luis Pangob, who replaces Prince Ndoki Mukete (second national vice president of FECAFOOT), was elected over the weekend in Kumba, 56 to 57 votes.
He will be assisted by two vice presidents, one financial secretary and a treasurer.
The election comes after FECAFOOT published a text last year putting an end to the accumulation of positions by national executive bureau members.
This explains why, Prince Ndoki Mukete, just like the current Secretary General of the federation, Jean Rene Atangana Mballa have opted to let go their provincial positions while maintaining those of the
national bureau.
The sad experience where some executive members tried to influence the results of matches, appointment of referee`s during last years national round robin tournament, "interpools", prompted the putting in place of this rule.
In a related story, Victoria United of Limbe on Monday, August 26, 2001 grapped the South West Provincial league title on a 3 - 2 aggregate after playing a one all tie with Botafogo F C of Buea. In the away league encounter played in Limbe, Victoria United beat Botafogo 2 - 1.
While waiting for confirmation from FECAFOOT on whether two teams will still represent the South West in the 2001 interpools, Victoria United is so far the first team to qualify for the final phase of the tournament.
