Samuel Eto`o could be out for up to eight weeks after suffering an injury to his right knee during the `Clasico` on Sunday. The Barça striker had to be substituted in the second half of his side`s 4-2 defeat to Real Madrid and faces an anxious wait to discover if the problem will end his season.
Eto`o will undergo a scan on Monday to determine if his knee ligaments have been damaged, said
Barcelona`s medical staff after the game.
The loss of the Cameroon international - the Liga`s top scorer with 21 goals - would be a huge blow to Barça`s title hopes, particularly after Real`s win saw them cut the gap to the leaders to six points.
"I`m sorry about the injury to Eto`o, as he`s a great player," said Real boss Vanderlei Luxemburgo. "Now they`re going to have to find a replacement for the end of fhe season."
