Tonnerre Yaounde look down and out after Friday`s four goal drubbing in the first leg of the Caf Cup final at the hands of reigning Cup holders JSK.
Furthermore, the African football archives show few glimmers of hope for them to hang onto.
No side in the history of all three of the continent`s annual club competitions has ever managed to come back from a four goal deficit.
However, back in 1968 the Togolese side Etoile Filante lost the first leg of the Champions Cup final 5-0 away at TP Mazembe in Kinshasa.
In the return game at the Eyadema stadium in Lome, they stormed back to score four goals but Mazembe then got a vital away goal and held
on for a 6-4 aggregate triumph.
Title hatrick
Tonnerre could look for some inspiration from neighbours Canon Yaounde, who hold the record for the biggest winning margin in a continental cup final.
They trounced Gor Mahia of Kenya 6-0 in the second leg of the 1979 African Cup Winners` Cup decider but they were already two goals up from the first leg in Nairobi.
It would take a real optimist to believe Tonnerre will be able to do the same, particularly after Friday`s poor performance resulted in not one single shot on target.
JSK are overwhelming favourites to create history on November 24 when they seek a third successive Caf Cup title.
