Reports of matches played in the Spanish first division on Sunday:
ATHLETIC BILBAO 1 CELTA VIGO 6
Celta were two up inside the first 20 minutes with a Catanha header and a 25-metre blast from Vagner.
Ismael Urzaiz pulled one back from close range five minutes before halftime but Celta were in inspired form after the break and roared to victory with further goals from Peter Luccin, Valery Karpin, Jesuli and Maurice.

DEPORTIVO CORUNA 3 TENERIFE 1
Federico Lussenhoff picked up a poor clearance from a free kick and smacked in a shot on the half-volley to give Tenerife a surprise lead on 29 minutes.
Diego Tristan saw his penalty saved on 64 minutes but two goals in eight minutes from defender Lionel Scaloni spared Depor`s blushes. Roy Makaay put a late gloss on the scoreline.

ESPANYOL 1 ALAVES 2
Espanyol took the lead at the end of a poor first half, Quique de Lucas sneaking in at the far post to convert a nod down from Antonio Pacheco.
The home side missed several clear chances after the break, though, and were made to pay as Alaves turned the game around with two late goals.
Mauricio Astudillo poked in the equaliser from near the goal line and Ivan Alonso netted the winner two minutes from time.

REAL MADRID 3 REAL ZARAGOZA 1
A heroic display from Fernando Hierro kept Real ahead of Valencia on goal difference at the top of the table.
The Spain defender bundled the ball in from a corner for the first on 15 minutes and struck from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 on 58 minutes.
Savo Milosevic pulled one back with 12 minutes left but Hierro ensured there would be no late upset as he completed his hat-trick with a great finish from the edge of the area.

REAL MALLORCA 0 REAL SOCIEDAD 2
Mallorca were much the better side in the first half and should have scored after 29 minutes as Ariel Ibagaza beat covering defender Bjorn Tore Kvarme on the left only to flash his shot across the face of goal.
Real Sociedad took advantage as Darko Kovacevic nodded them in front on 49 minutes and added the clinching second on the hour.

VALENCIA 2 OSASUNA 1
Osasuna had Josetxo sent off for a foul on Mista in the area on 30 minutes but Ruben Baraja missed the
resulting penalty.
Valencia continued to struggle, finally taking the lead as Juan Sanchez popped up unmarked to turn in at the far post 12 minutes from time.
Osasuna equalised through John Aloisi but Baraja made amends for his earlier miss by heading the winner in injury time to keep Valencia up at the top with Real Madrid.

VALLADOLID 1 BARCELONA 2
Valladolid took the lead on nine minutes with their first attack, Luis Garcia taking a pass out on the left from Tote and slipping a shot under Roberto Bonano.
Patrick Kluviert equalised for Barca almost immediately, though, as he converted a cross from Marc Overmars, and the Catalans were ahead on 42 minutes through Phillip Cocu.
Barca made life difficult for themselves when Abelardo was sent off a minute later for a bad tackle on Garcia but they managed to hang on in the second half for a win that keeps them in with a chance of challenging for the title.

LAS PALMAS 3 VILLARREAL 2
Las Palmas recovered from an early Victor penalty to take the lead with two goals in two minutes as Jorge struck with another spotkick and Vinnie Samways cracked the ball home from the edge of the box.
Villarreal came back through Unai Vergara before the break and seemed odds on to claim a win when Las Palmas had Gabriel Schurrer sent off for his second yellow card midway through the second half. It was the home side, though, who took all three points thanks to a Pablo Lago goal on 76 minutes.

MALAGA 0 RAYO VALLECANO 0
Rayo stay deep in relegation trouble after failing to make the most of their second-half superiority. The Madrid side`s best chance came on 85 minutes when Pedro Contreras tipped over a fine left-foot strike from Vivar Dorado.
Rayo played the last three minutes with 10 men as French defender Jean Francois Hernandez was sent off for a second booking and had to settle for a draw that left them in the drop zone.

REAL BETIS 0 SEVILLA 0
Betis slipped off the title pace after failing to take advantage of the sending-off of Sevilla`s Gerardo Torrado early in the second half.
The visitors still looked the better side, though, and almost snatched a winner they would have deserved in injury time as Nico Olivera beat the Betis defence on the counter-attack but then put his shot wide.
