African champions Cameroon are embarking on a tough programme of international friendlies as part of their preparations for the World Cup.
They include matches against World Cup favourties Argentina, England, Austria and Denmark.
Coach Winfried Schafer`s plans were announced by the Cameroon FA president, Mohamed Iya, in Douala on Tuesday.
The first match is against Argentina in Paris on 26 March.
The Lions then face Austria on 17 April in Vienna.
A month later Cameroon travel to Copenhagen to play Denmark.
Then when the team travel to Japan for their final training camp in Nagatsue, they will take on England in Kobe five days before the World Cup kicks off.
The last time the two sides met was in November 1997, when England won 2-0 at Wembley.
Cash questions
Cameroon`s goal is to improve upon their Italia `90 performance, when they reached the quarter-finals.
Mr. Iya
also announced plans to end the pay disputes that have caused friction between the team and management.
"As for the problem of bonuses for the players, we`ll resolve that in time. All is set for the Indomitable Lions to obtain their best result in World Cup history this year," he said.
But there are problems in paying coach Winfried Schafer.
The Cameroonian FA, which is not a well-funded organisation, said Schafer and his German assistant, Stephen Mucke, were due to be paid from the proceeds of a friendly against Germany.
But since Cameroon and Germany have been drawn in the same World Cup group, the match can no longer go ahead.
Iya said that the FA would find the cash for Schafer, their highest-paid coach ever, despite the set-back.
"We have enough to pay our trainers," he said.
