Mount Cameroon Tops the Chart (04.05.2007)
After beating Esperance of Guider in an advanced Day 14 match last Wednesday.
Mount Cameroon which was at first relegated to the third division and then re-admitted into the elite championship, has taken advantage of the absence of Coton sport which is involved in the African Confederations Cup, to temporarily top the league table. In one of the two Day 14 advanced matches played in Buea, the ‘Lava Boys’ edged Espérance of Guider 1-0 to occupy the first position with 27 points. In another Day 14 advanced match, the University of Ngaoundere pulled a zero all tie with Aigle of Menoua.
In a late Day 10 match played last Wednesday also, Union Douala bounced back from her first defeat suffered against Esperance of Guider in Day 13 matches played Last Sunday, April 29, to beat Astres Douala, 2-1. The victory propels the Nassara boys tentatively to the 4th position with 21 points. Canon, despite having recruited two Brazilians and a Japanese this year, is still having difficulties to find its mark in the elite championship. After 13 matches played, the Mekok Me Ngonda occupy the 9th position with 17 points, barely four
points away from the first team on the relegation list.
Much has not changed at the bottom of the table. After conceding two consecutive defeats on the 12th and 13th days of play, newly promoted Astres of Douala, is yet unable to leave the red zone with the defeat suffered against Union last Wednesday. Federal of Foumban which was beaten by Bamboutos Mbouda on the 13th day of play, still remains stuck to the 14th position.
The other Day 14 matches will be played next Sunday May 6. Sahel Maroua in the 16th position will be seeking to obtain their third victory in the season when the clash with Bamboutos Mbouda in Maroua. Both Astres and Federal will be looking for a fresh start when the meet next Sunday in Douala. Newly promoted CPS of Bertoua in the last position, will still be running after their first victory in the competition when they receive Foudre of Akonolinga. Sable of Batie will be fighting for survival in the first division when they travel to Ebolowa to confront local side, Lion Ngoma. In Yaounde, Canon will play host to Fovu of Baham and Tonnere will be travelling to Douala to defy local side, Union.
