Barcelona have made a formal offer to Real Mallorca for striker Sammy Eto`o.
Though the Cameroon international is expected to be signed outright by Real Madrid, which owns 50 per cent of his registration, Barca have decided to make the offer to bring matters to a head.
Barca president Joan Laporta said: "We admire the behaviour of
theplayer in these trying circumstances.
"We`ve spoken with Eto`o and Mallorca and they`re willing to listen to offers. Eto`o interests us, but it is very complicated."
Barca`s offer has two options. The first is a cash component of £6.5 million, plus the exchange of two players from Barca to Mallorca. The second bid is for £8 million, with one player moving in exchange.
