A ten-man Benin under-20 side have been held to a 1-1 draw by Japan at the World Youth Championship in Holland on Wednesday.
Benin striker Abou Maiga opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a right-foot drive before Japan substitute Koki Mizuno levelled in the 65th minute from a free kick.
Benin were down to 10 men when Oscar Olou was sent off for
a second yellow card for touching the ball after the referee had blown for a Benin infraction.
The draw gave Japan its first point in Group A but they still trail Benin, who have two and remain in contention for a place in the second round.
Benin`s final group game is against hosts Holland on Saturday while Japan will play Australia.
