Cameroon gets ready to host Egypt (30.09.2005)

Football authorities in Cameroon are putting final touches to their plans to render the 2006 World Cup qualifier against Egypt in Yaounde a great success.
Seidou Mbombo Njoya, the president of FECAFOOT’s International Competitions Committee, in charge of organising the event, has briefed the press on the different aspects of their organisation.
In a press conference on Wednesday 28 October, Njoya offered assurances that the crucial Cameroon versus Egypt group 3 qualifier will be a hitch free event. Security and health of players and spectators will be guaranteed, while the Egyptians will have accommodation in one the best hotels in town.
For the director of sports in the ministry of Sports and Physical Education, Robert Ndjana, the event will be a sold out and about 300 stewards will be recruited to help spectators find their seats.
38,520 tickets will go on sale as from 4 October until the eve of the game, sponsors offering a green T-shirt to every ticket holder. Working
closelywith FECAFOOT’s marketing Committee, the organisers want each spectator to appear in green, the first colour of Cameroon’s flag, as a sign of total support to the Indomitable Lions who must win the match to qualifier for the 2006 World Cup final.
“We have to create an atmosphere in which the Indomitable Lions will feel the total support of Cameroonians. A lottery game will be included in the match event and at half time the winners will be announced”, Seidou Njoya said.
For the general manager of FECAFOOT, Patrick Precheur, sitting positions in the stands have been mapped out with seat numbers. The press stand will be caved out of the presidential stand for more than a hundred pressmen, while a shuttle bus will also transport the media to the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium.
Precheur explained how the different check points will be manned and controlled by security forces and stewards.
Meantime, FIFA is sending Faouzi Mahjoub as media officer for the game. He is expected to oversee media coverage of the game.
