CHELSEA 1 ARSENAL 1
Chelsea made the brighter start and Boudewijn Zenden nearly put them in front before Gianfranco Zola`s 40-metre free kick flew straight over the Arsenal defence and bounced in front of David Seaman before hitting the back of the net in the 34th minute. Arsenal had skipper Patrick Vieira dismissed for a second yellow card in the 50th minute but hit back with a 59th minute equaliser from Ivory Coast midfielder Kolo Toure, who headed home from point blank range after Carlo Cudicini had parried a Sylvain Wiltord shot.
BOLTON WANDERERS 1 ASTON VILLA 0
The match came to life only in the second half when Henrik Pedersen had a goal disallowed for handball, Bolton team mate Youri Djorkaeff`s superb dribble and shot was blocked and Pedersen fired wide from just eight metres. Pedersen made amends by earning a penalty, when he was tripped by Villa keeper Peter Enckelman when latching on to Djorkaeff`s through-ball, which Michael Ricketts converted in the 56th minute with a cool finish. Villa striker Juan Pablo Angel then had a potential equaliser ruled offside.

BIRMINGHAM CITY 2 LEEDS UNITED 1
Robbie Savage and Aliou Cisse worked tirelessly in City`s midfield, while Paul Devlin scored with a superb 25-metre drive in the 32nd minute. Leeds had an Eirik Bakke header disallowed, while Mark Viduka scooped Alan Smith`s cross on to the post with only goalkeeper Nico Vaesen to beat and Harry Kewell hit the bar before the break. Lee Bowyer levelled in the 50th minute from close range after a neat one-two with Viduka, but Damien Johnson struck City`s winner just before the hour with a curling shot from outside the area after a one-two with Clinton Morrison.
MANCHESTER CITY 3 EVERTON 1
Nicolas Anelka bagged a hat-trick for 10-man City, striking twice in the space of two minutes as his drive was deflected home in the 14th minute and then Steve Howey`s header picked him out for a shot inside the area. Things swung Everton`s way in the 28th minute when City had Shaun Wright-Phillips red carded after he felled Gary Naysmith in the area and David Unsworth converted the penalty. Everton piled on the pressure in the second half but Peter Schmeichel kept them out and Anelka scored the third with a stinging shot after a mistake by Naysmith.
MIDDLESBROUGH 1 BLACKBURN ROVERS 0
Boro`s best first half chance came when Croatian striker Alen Boksic got behind
the Blackburn defence and cut the ball back -- only for Carlos Marinelli to sky his shot. Andy Cole fared no better at the other end with Rovers` best chance of the first half. Boro striker Massimo Maccarone, taken off towards the end, showed willing but lacked the service he got in his two-goal performance last weekend. But his replacement, Joseph Desire Job, grabbed the 90th minute winner.
SUNDERLAND 1 MANCHESTER UNITED 1
Ryan Giggs opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Sunderland`s rearguard were caught flat-footed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer`s header into the box and the United winger stole in for a left-foot drive. Skipper Roy Keane then ballooned a free shot and Solskjaer let the ball run too far as he broke through. United tempers frayed in the second half with David Beckham getting booked and Keane shoving team mate Phil Neville before Tore Andre Flo equalised in the 70th minute in a goalmouth melee. Sunderland goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen denied Ruud van Nistelrooy from point-blank range after a miskick by Phil Babb but there was worse to come for United when Keane was red carded for elbowing Jason McAteer.
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR 2 SOUTHAMPTON 1
Les Ferdinand pounced on skipper Teddy Sheringham`s header into the danger zone after 10 minutes, shooting home from close range. Spurs goalkeeper Kasey Keller pulled off a superb save to deny an unmarked Paul Telfer at the far post. But Saints got their equaliser when Spurs defender Mauricio Taricco put the ball into his own net under pressure from James Beattie. Saints keeper Paul Jones denied Simon Davies after the break, Beattie clipped the Spurs bar and Davies went agonisingly close before Sheringham converted a late penalty to secure the points after Michael Svensson was dismissed for hand-ball.
WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1 FULHAM 0
Darren Moore headed the winner for West Brom just three minutes after the re-start, pouncing to beat Edwin Van Der Sar from a Neil Clement corner. Andy Johnson missed a sitter that should have made it 2-0, while Fulham failed to create any clear scoring chances as Jean Tigana`s side came up short after their stirring Intertoto Cup victory in midweek.
WEST HAM UNITED 0 CHARLTON ATHLETIC 2
Claus Jensen rifled Charlton into the lead after only four minutes, but West Ham hit back with two fine efforts from England midfielder Joe Cole, watched by national coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, and another from striker Jermain Defoe before Jon Fortune struck the Addicks` second just before the break, securing the points in the London derby.
