Former African Player of the Year Kalusha Bwalya has declared his intention to run for the Zambian FA vice-presidency in 2004.
Bwalya made his decision in the United States, where he was conducting a coaching seminar on behalf of the Dutch Federation.
The former Zambian captain has been critical of Zambia´s football officials following the national team´s failure to qualify for next year´s Nations Cup but said he would like to provide technical assistance to the FA.
"At the moment, I am talking with the FA on the possibility of becoming technical director," he confirmed.
"Hopefully, the negotiations will be concluded before the end of this month."
/>The former PSV Eindhoven player said he is keen to play his part in rebuilding the national team.
A conference examining the problems affecting the progress of Zambian football is expected to take place in October.
"For me, what happens on the pitch is more important and it is the starting point," Bawalya added.
"My focus as technical director will be to bring back the good morale in our team, organise friendly matches and ensure that the under-23 team is well prepared for the All Africa Games in October.
"I would like to see things done properly.,"
The FA´s annual general meeting is likely to take place before March 2004.
