Senegal improve their Fifa ranking.Cameroon stay on place 17(BBC) (04.07.2002)
Senegal`s performance at the World Cup finals gave them a significant boost in the current Fifa rankings.
Moving up 11 places to 31st, the World Cup quarter-finalists are the most improved African team in world football.
The Senegalese are still behind Cameroon, the continent`s best placed team, and Nigeria.
Cameroon, the defending African champions, remain in 17th place, after failing to
gobeyond the first round of the World Cup.
Nigeria, unable to win a game in a World Cup group including Argentina, Sweden and England, went down two places to 29th.
South Africa, who drew against Paraguay, defeated Slovenia and lost narrowly to Spain in Korea and Japan, moved up four places to 33rd.
But Tunisia, the only North African team at the World Cup, slumped six places to 36th.
