Maldini prepared to listen to Tunisia offer (21.08.2001)
Former AC Milan coach Cesare Maldini has admitted that he is interested in becoming Tunisia coach following German boss Eckhard Krautzen`s dismissal. "I might accept the job if the Tunisian authorities contact me," Maldini said.
The Tunisian football federation terminated Krautzun`s contract on Monday, despite the fact that the German qualified Tunisia for the 2002 World Cup.
A statement said: "The Federation has terminated Krautzun`s contract as it failed to reach an understanding with him over team preparations for the next stages."
And former Milan and Italy coach Cesare Maldini has reportedly said that he would be interested in taking the job. He was
quoted in local newspaper Assabah as saying: "It is possible I might accept the job if the Tunisian authorities contact me.
"But there has been no such contact yet," he added.
Krautzun finally admitted defeat in his on-going power struggle with the Tunisian FA on Monday. "I have agreed to terminate my contract," he revealed.
"I failed to agree with the Tunisian FA on a certain issue, but I am leaving as a friend," he told German TV.
Krautzun took over as Tunisia boss from Italian coach Francesco Scolio in March this year and successful guided the country through its World Cup qualification campaign. Tunisia sealed qualification with a 3-0 win over Congo.
