Traore joins Lens on loan from Liverpool (03.09.2001)
LONDON,
Liverpool defender Djimi Traore joined French First Division side Lens on loan until the end of the season, the English Premiership side`s official website said Friday.
The 21-year-old Frenchman arrived at Liverpool from hometown club Laval in 1999 for 500,000 pounds. He was made captain of the reserves by Liverpool`s French boss Gerard
Houllierbut only managed 15 games for the first team.
In December 2000 Traore, who can play as a central defender or left back, extended his Liverpool contract until 2004.
At Lens he will be linking up again with the club`s director of football Patrice Bergues who was Houllier`s assistant for three years until this summer.
