South Africa are to face Cameroon for the first time in more than 12 years when they host the Indomitable Lions in the 2008 Nelson Mandela Challenge at the end of the year, Safa have told KickOff.com.
The match is to be played at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on November 19, the last date for the year on the Fifa calendar for international fixtures.
It will be the first time the two sides have met since 1996 when Bafana Bafana hammered the Lions 3-0 in the opening match of the Africa Cup of Nations finals. The momentum created by the result at Soccer

Cameroon were also the first team to play a post-Apartheid international in South Africa, squaring a three-match series in 1992. They also competed two years later against South Africa in the Four Nations Cup.
Cameroon were runners-up at this year’s Nations Cup finals and have made easy shrift of their recent 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with wins over Tanzania, Mauritius and the Cape Verde Islands.
