As football authorities begin executing the instructions of youth and sports minister, Bidoung Mpkatt, to have head coach Winnie Schaefer settle in Yaounde, a villa and a service vehicle have been offered Schaefer.
Schaefer presented the huge villa situated in the Bastos quarters in Yaounde to the press on Thursday evening as the coach declared that he was happy with the villa and his stay in Cameroon.
Schaefer also talked about his plans for the national team as they prepare for the 2006 World Cup and nations Cup qualifiers that begin in June. And had the chance to once more deny that he ever applied to coach Egypt as the Egyptians have claimed of recent.
He said the vehicle will enable him go round Cameroon to watch games and detect young talents who can
join the team. Schaefer promised to meet other European based stars like Lauren Etame Mayer and Joseph Desire Job who was returning to top form with English Premiership club Middleborough, in order to bring them back to the squad.
Schaefer said he will produce a detail plan to prepare the Indomitable Lions for the crucial qualifiers by the end of February, while team manager, Andre Nguidjol stated that the team will have at least three training camps and test games before the qualifiers start.
For the sports director in the ministry of youth and sports, Robert Ndjana it was a good thing to have Schaefer stay in Yaounde and perform his national duties without difficulties. He said in line with the objective of injecting new blood into the Indomitable Lions, Schaefer will make contacts with many players.
