Some of Cameroon`s squad in Japan fear they could face a backlash from the Roy Keane saga when they take on the Republic of Ireland in their World Cup opener.
The two teams meet in the second match of the tournament in Niigata on Saturday.
But the Irish camp has been in turmoil since last week when captain Roy Keane was sent home for verbally attacking coach Mick McCarthy.
As a result, Ireland are a man short with Fifarejecting their appeal to replace Keane`s spot.
Some may see Keane`s departure as a boost for Cameroon, but the African champions are weary.
"The absence of Roy Keane is important to Ireland and they must resolve this somehow," said defender Lucien Mettomo, who could find himself facing Manchester City teammate Richard Dunne in Saturday`s match.
"It could make things very difficult for us," he admitted.
/>"It might only bring Ireland together, make them more determined and concentrated."
Cameroon`s star striker Marc-Vivien Foe is well aware of the importance of the opening game but says the Keane saga will not detract from his side`s preparations.
"They are a very dangerous team and the game is very important for us," he said.
"But I don`t care about the Ireland team I just care about my team and how we are going to play.
"I don`t want to think about Roy Keane, the importance for me is to win the game."
And Foe is convinced his side have a good chance.
"I think we are playing together well as a team and if we stick together Ireland won`t exist," he added.
"The first match will determine our level in the competition, our mind set. And it will show our desire to win and gain results in the first round."
