Barca`s Eto`o tries to leave pitch after racist abuse (27.02.2006)
MADRID, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Barcelona striker Samuel Eto`o threatened to leave the pitch during the Primera Liga match at Real Zaragoza on Saturday after being racially abused by the home fans.
Referee Victor Esquinas Torres stopped the game in the second half to ask for an
announcement over the public address system to call a halt to the abuse and Eto`o tried to leave the pitch, appearing to say he would not play any longer.
The Cameroon international was persuaded to continue by his team mates and Barca coach Frank Rijkaard and the match resumed soon after.
