Cameroon World Cup star Foe signs loan deal with Manchester City (19.06.2002)
LONDON
Manchester City on Tuesday announced the signing of Cameroon international midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe on a year`s loan deal from French champions Lyon.
Foe, who failed to inspire Cameroon to the second round of this year`s World Cup, snubbed the chance of Champions League football with Lyon to go to the Premiership.
"Marc was a long-term target and an absolute key to what we
want to do," City boss Kevin Keegan told the club`s official website www.mcfc.co.uk.
"He is a quality player who has just come back from the World Cup. He is big, strong and a great athlete."
Foe, 27, previously had a spell with West Ham but went back to France after less than a season to join Lyon.
Now Keegan has paid 555,000 pounds (822,825 dollars) to take him back to England for a season.
