2002 World Cup will be held, Pele thinks (18.10.2001)
RIO DE JANEIRO,
Today football king Pele has delivered a speech concerning the terrorist attack on the USA on September 11 and attacks on Afghanistan. In his speech he expressed a hope that the threat of terror will be eliminated and everything will fall back into its place. He noted that the 2002 World Cup must not be postponed in any circumstances even if threat of war
is created. He also said that security measures must be taken during the World Cup, as everyone wants it to be held.
"Don`t worry about it too much. All problems will be resolved in a year and peace will be established again. The 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea will be held under peaceful conditions and without threat of war," he announced.
